Picnic In A Multiverse Videoclip

Here is a videoclip I made of one of the tracks of the forthcoming new Smackos album.
I handtyped it in ASCII characters and bewitched it with some neon sparkle magic, it took around 3 weeks to make the ASCII world. The "ASCII-world" file will be included in the digital release so you can check it out at your own leisurely pace and it will be part of  a 'quest/competition' were you gotta use this map to solve some stuff...

Smackos - A Vampire Goes West NW011

Out 24 of January a new Nightwind Records release, NW011 SMACKOS'A Vampire Goes West'
Check out the infomercial Trailer below & snippets on the Nightwind Records releases website
It will be available on bandcamp digital, CD and Cassette. The cassette version has 2 different tracks due to tape length issues but you get extra smudgey magnetic sound for that instead! (and the ASCII art zinemap and "multifunctional refrigerator gummy dome sticker" comes on satyr red cassette in library grey jewel case)
There is also a 'quest' attached to this release, as all versions come with an ASCII art treasure map and a cryptological code to crack. Once you have solved the code you will be able to pick up on some clues which you can use on the map to find a secret password. With this you can win some yet undisclosed prizes.

Zandvoort & Uilenbal - Geruis Uit Somberdorp out now

The digital bandcamp version of the new Nightwind Records (NW010) is out now, cassette and CD versions coming later this month. Get it here

'Geruis Uit Somberdorp' (Rustlings from Somberville) is a concert for Harmonium, Mixtur Trautonium & Synthesizer, originally commissioned for the dutch classical Concertzender broadcast coorporation in early 2016. Zandvoort & Uilenbal are Danny Wolfers and Jimi Hellinga.

The Harmonium & Mixtur Trautonium are two particular instruments:

Played in this performace is the 19th century Kimball 'Parlor Organ' Harmonium build in Chicago. A beautifull Victorian era wood crafted instrument with an arcane haunting sound. The creaking wood reminds us of an old wooden ship, adding an extra seafaring dimension to an already nautical sounding instrument.

The Mixtur Trautonium is a more advanced version of the Trautonium, an early electronic instrument using neon tube relaxation oscillators that could produce sonic waveforms. Originally invented by Friedrich Trautwein from Berlin in 1929, it was further developed by German composer Oskar Sala. Adding special harmonic oscillators, the Mixtur Trautonium could play sounds that were devised in theory during the middle ages but could never be practically played until now.

Its unique harmonic rich sound pallette is instantly recognizable and pioneered a handfull of soundtracks and experimental pieces before the dawn of the synthesizer.

Geruis uit Somberdorp is influenced by the 'idea of the somber coastal village'. It was composed and recorded in the seaside town of Scheveningen (Holland) during the mundane atmosphere of a North Sea winter.

Musically the instruments are all their opposites: The old wooden harmonium, the sizzling electricity of the Trautonium and the digital sprinkle of the synthesizer. They all merge into an arcane porridge that stretches many centuries. We can hear touches from the 'madrigale spirituale' of Renaissance madman Carlo Gesualdo de Venosa all the way to the hypnotic disymetrical patterns of Morton Feldman.

This digital release comes with the artwork in JPG and a bunch of vintage moody photographs of the coastal town of Scheveningen.

Recorded in early 2016 at the North Sea Institute For The Overmind.

This Is Not America Smackos EMAX DiscoRemix

Often requested, hunted for and extremely rare on the worlds harddisks. Here is the Smackos disco45 12" remix of this one particular track from the soundtrack of the 1985 "The Falcon & The Snowman" movie, first heard in the Legowelt Resident Advisor mix from a few years ago. Check those melancholical bassoon clarinet patches from the EMU EMAXII and little blobs of Other People Place influenced style modulated SH101 riffs.
